We particularly like gifts that encourage people to get outside and learn something new. A ferro rod does exactly that.

What Outdoor Gear Should You Skip on Black Friday?

There’s no shortage of discounted outdoor gear flying off the shelves around the holidays. But remember, outdoor equipment often gets used HARD! Few things are more frustrating than taking a brand-new piece of gear into the field, only to have it break or malfunction on your first trip.

I can't stress this enough: invest in at least mid-range quality equipment. While price and quality often go hand in hand, a higher price tag doesn't always mean a better product. I'd much rather see someone spend a little more on dependable gear and build their kit over time than rush to buy as much equipment as possible, only to discover that half of it isn't worth carrying.

Quality over quantity. Every time.

Final Thoughts

Finding Christmas gifts for someone who loves camping, hiking, or survival skills doesn't have to be complicated. Whether you're shopping for your husband, wife, parents, friends, or another outdoor enthusiast, the goal is to find something practical they'll enjoy using.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday may offer opportunities to save on some of these products, but I encourage you to compare prices rather than assuming every advertised promotion is a bargain.

And if you're still unsure what to buy, remember that quality outdoor equipment is generally a better investment than a collection of inexpensive gadgets.

The best gifts aren't necessarily the most expensive. They're the ones that get used, create memories, and maybe even inspire someone's next adventure.
